It seems that Google is proactively pushing out improvements for AdWords users out there after the release of the New AdWords interface a few months back.  With the release of the opportunities tab (check out Jeff’s take on the new feature!), it is now time for the keyword tool to have its own updated version in beta as well.

Access your new keyword tool either through the Opportunities tab or the usual Tools tab,

The new keyword tool now integrates with the search based keyword tool (looking up keywords based on the content of your website) as well as segregating the keywords into categories.

Now let’s try using this new tool with a keyword search for camcorders.

The new tool helps you to sort the keywords into sets, containing the original keywords, or related synonyms. You can even filter keywords according to the match types!

Revealing the advanced options tab allows you to customise your search for keywords by targeting countries, search data on mobile devices, traffic estimation based on your budget and filtering your results based on search volumes.

While retaining the usual data from the current version, the new tool gives you more insights on the keywords with statistics on CTR, estimated impressions, clicks, costs all within the same page view.

This improvement in keyword tool means time saving when researching on keywords without the hassle of accessing several tools at any one time (search based keyword tool, traffic estimator, google insights). Personally, I like the estimated CTR information, it helps in providing some benchmarks on the expected performance of campaigns in various industries.

That concludes our short introduction. Expect to see more of such improvements going forward and clickTRUE blogging about it!
