We very much depend on the query suggest technology these days.

It starts of by typing in just the first few letters of your search term and VOILA! It automatically completes your search term for you and lists out a slew of related keywords to aid your research.  It requires a lot less brain juice on our part don’t you think?

The query suggests technology basically paves the path for users by laying down the keyword possibilities. But is this affecting the future of keyword research behaviors?

For some search engine marketers it is something to be concern about. Why?

Chances are those keyword options are more likely to be selected by the users and they may find what they were looking for on that search & never type in their original idea! Therefore driving in more traffic to those “selected keywords”. Some search engine marketers believe that it might hurt some long tail search traffic and some typo searches.

For others, this could be a good strategy to tap into long tail keywords for a much targeted campaign. Users could also end up expanding on those short term keywords as well.

Needless to say, keyword search is now highly influenced by the query suggest technology.

How do we address this? Well! We definitely have to keep up with the evolving research techniques. Besides churning out your search term using keyword tools. Try searching your own keywords, take down those suggested keywords into your list and while you are at it– monitor your search flow. You’ll be surprise at the extent of your research.
