SEO Spam can only provide temporary results. The long-term effects are either reduced page rank or the complete removal of search index. If your site is found to be spam and was informed by the competition it is likely to be completely out of the list.

black hat seo is useful unless you are not being caught by Google. But i would suggest to avoid that as you will not the of being penalized after taking a 1st position in SERP. So let your website to be built for user point of view not for having rank in SERP.

Many site uses this strategy, and seems that they are not yet in trouble. I have read a forum before, which mentioned that there is a possibility that this websites can get spam penalty from Google.

SEO’s know that Image Replacements get more value having Alt Text. Well… if your text really describes the image, its not black hat.
