Singapore, 4th March 2014 — Kyosei Ventures, an Investment Holdings Company announced today its new strategic investment into The French Cellar (www.theFrenchCellar.asia), Asia’s pioneer wine subscription e-commerce platform.
Jackie Lee, a seasoned serial entrepreneur, will step in as Chairman effective immediately while original founders Dr. Vincent Morello and Eric Joubert will hold the CEO and COO positions respectively. With Jackie’s understanding of the online landscape and a growing market for French wine in Asia, the business looks set to expand out of Singapore and Hong Kong into countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and China.

As a first mover in Singapore, The French Cellar creatively introduces the concept of “Your Sommelier at Home”, offering Singaporeans a new way to enjoy French wines. The subscription service exclusively import French wines directly from vineyards carefully selected by designated Sommelier Nicolas Rebut, former Chef Sommelier of the 3-star Michelin restaurants, Louis XV (Monaco) and Le Meurice (Paris). Every month, members will receive two French wines selected by Nicolas and enjoy free delivery of the beautiful wines to their doorsteps, together with the sommelier”s tasting guide. Members can then enjoy a discount on purchase of wines thereafter. The French Cellar’s ideology focuses foremost on creating epicurean wine experiences and appreciation journeys targeted at the mass affluent market, a rapidly growing sector in Asia.
The French wine market in Asia shows tremendous potential being valued at about 3 billion Euro per year. The share of French wine exports to Asia has grown from 17% in 2009 to 27% in 2012 with no signs of slowing. As the first company in the market to introduce the concept of curated French wine subscriptions, The French Cellar is well positioned to tap into this growing market in Asia.
